We’re off to a rather cold Ukraine again this weekend thanks to Ukrainian International Airlines but before we do we’re underway with the drama shoot as storyboards, model making and green screen shoots run alongside each other. FRONTCOVER imageWe’re getting ready for another ‘Optimistic Immigrants’ extragavanza. This time as part of the launch season of the new London Jewish Museum in Camden on Sunday 28th March 2010. We are able to use the whole space – from auditorium to foyer, gallery and cafe and want to make the most of it with wandering musicians and performers and a great programme of films. We’re looking for these now so do get in touch with proposals and spread the word. It will be a ticketed event and we need to sort out the programme and budget to allow a nominal fee for performers now so do get in touch by FEBRUARY 1st with proposals. – mail hilary@optimisticproductions.co.uk.

As regulars might know ‘Optimistic Immigrants’ itself is itinerant – launched at TINAG festival in Dalston and continuing at the East End Film Festival 2008 and TINAG Festival 2009 around Brick Lane. It presents the diverse and creative ways people find to tell their own or give voice to other’s stories of migration, home and arrival.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! To get 2010 started put one date straight into your diary – Thursday 25th February 2010 – and join us in the evening at the UCL (University College London) Urban Film Society for an ‘Optimistic Immigrants’ event.  The full programme will be up here and at the Film Society’s website very soon. The main films of the evening are Olly Lambert’s ‘Confessions of a Traffic Warden’ and Hugh Hartford and Rosa Roger’s ‘Broken Promise’ accompanied by two shorts and perhaps a  musical, poetic interlude.  Hope to see you there – the Urban Film Society is also worth checking out generally as it always has interesting films and debate. Thanks to Ben Campkin for inviting us.d1012fcb-e311-4b0c-8f94-983519fec031_200x113
